Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between The Dude (ranked 1841 p4p, 1945 weight class) and Roelof Gerritzen (ranked 232 p4p, 246 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Dude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roelof Gerritzen!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerritzen digs a good hook to Dude's body.
Gerritzen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gerritzen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dude circles away quickly and effectively.

and Dude counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dude throws a series of punches but Gerritzen avoids them all with ease.

Sloppy strikes from Dude. Those never looked like landing.
Gerritzen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Dude defends it well.
Dude throws a right and a left that Gerritzen avoids nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gerritzen is pressing down on Dude's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dude is holding on for now.

Gerritzen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

I think Gerritzen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
