Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Slater (ranked 1261 p4p, 2819 weight class) and Guilherme Carvalho (ranked 171 p4p, 318 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho digs a good body shot into Slater's ribs.
Carvalho lunges at Slater with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Slater's hand.
Slater gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Slater manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Carvalho on his heels. He'll look to pass Carvalho's guard now, I'm sure.
Slater stands and throws Carvalho's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Carvalho manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Carvalho is working for a submission of some sort.

My spies in Alpha Brasil inform me that Carvalho has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Slater's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Carvalho is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Slater sees it coming and defends easily.

Carvalho looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Carvalho is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Slater is defending against the submission attempts here by Carvalho.

Slater is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Carvalho trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Carvalho drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carvalho jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Slater wants to sweep but no luck.
Carvalho tries to free his leg and advance position but Slater is retaining full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Carvalho gets caught napping as Slater dives in and scores a takedown. Carvalho manages to retain guard.

Carvalho is looking for a triangle but Slater pushes his legs off easily.

Carvalho throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Slater escapes and throws Carvalho's legs to the side, diving into side control!

A close round but Guilherme Carvalho will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Slater moves forwards but Carvalho connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Slater rushes Carvalho and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Slater tightens his grip and picks Carvalho up, before dumping him to the ground. Carvalho manages to land in guard.

Slater got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carvalho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slater has managed to get both his arms back between Carvalho's legs - danger averted.
