PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 25172 p4p, 24907 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Amiga dives in and scores a takedown into Salvacion's guard.
Amiga controlling from the top position.
Amiga is fighting to break Salvacion's control of his arms but Salvacion is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Amiga seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Amiga has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Amiga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Amiga seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salvacion for as long as he can get away with.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt - Amiga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Amiga changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Salvacion looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Salvacion is trying to control Amiga's posture but Amiga avoids it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Salvacion moves out of range of the body kick from Amiga.
Amiga gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Salvacion makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Amiga shoots in and drives through. Salvacion sprawls well.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tapad Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Amiga tries to score a power double leg takedown but Salvacion sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Amiga somewhat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Salvacion throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Amiga's waist but Amiga gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Salvacion off to one side.

Amiga is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
I wouldn't like to be where Salvacion is right now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Salvacion counters with a nice body kick.

Salvacion closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Amiga is doing well to control the position and prevent Salvacion from advancing to side control.

Amiga has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Salvacion is working away from the top position though.
Tapad Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Salvacion is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Amiga is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Salvacion not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Rico Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tapad Amiga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Salvacion counters with a good, hard body kick but Amiga shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rico Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Amiga has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
