Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alistair Ubereem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Denis Denisov!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Denisov lands with a hook. Ubereem tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Denisov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Denis Denisov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Denisov tries to clinch up.
Denisov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ubereem throws an off balance right hand
enabling Denisov to counter with a crisp jab.
Ubereem slips under a jab.

Ubereem tries to keep at a distance but Denisov has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ubereem lands with a short shot to the head.
Denisov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Denisov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alistair Ubereem has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denis Denisov.

Denisov is trying to pull guard but Ubereem has him pressed against the cage.
Ubereem gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Denisov.
Ubereem throws a punch but it's blocked by Denisov.

Denisov throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Denisov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Denisov told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Ubereem's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Denisov looking for a sweep. Not yet Denisov, not yet.
Ubereem seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ubereem is looking to land body kicks.
Ubereem just misses with a punch to the body.
Denisov looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ubereem throws a body kick that misses
and Denisov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Denisov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ubereem counters with a head kick that drops Denisov to the mat! Denisov scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Ubereem lands a jab to Denisov's midsection.

Ubereem uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Denisov.
Ubereem throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Denisov's corner calls for a 1-2. Denisov obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ubereem.

Denisov moves into the clinch.
Ubereem can't find room to land a body shot as Denisov controls the action.
Ubereem misses with a punch to the body.

Denisov manages to pull guard.
Ubereem stays in close to Denisov's body and controls the position.
Denisov throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Denisov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Denisov will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Denisov striking off his back but it's not causing Ubereem any problems.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Denisov pulls Ubereem in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A lazy left from Denisov finds it's target.
Denisov on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Ubereem tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Denisov was well out of range. Poor timing from Ubereem.
Denisov moves out of range as Ubereem strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Alistair Ubereem dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Denisov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ubereem manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ubereem was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Ubereem is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Denisov can do to turn this around?
Denisov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ubereem.

It looks like Denis Denisov has been cut.

Ubereem lands a big head kick that sends Denisov to the canvas! Ubereem follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
