PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scully Peterson (ranked 1262 p4p, 5813 weight class) and Ron Austin (ranked 182 p4p, 525 weight class). Peterson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Riddler - Method Man. The key to victory for Scully Peterson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin fails with a takedown attempt.
Austin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Peterson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Peterson connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Ron Austin has been cut.
Peterson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Austin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Peterson tries to avoid it but Austin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Peterson to the ground. Peterson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Peterson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Scully Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ron Austin.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Austin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peterson is fending him off so far but Austin persists. Nope, Peterson circles away and we're back to standing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Austin is defended easily by Peterson.

Peterson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Peterson catches Austin napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Austin to the canvas!
Peterson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson cracks Austin with a solid left hand.
Peterson stays in close to Austin's body and controls the position.
Peterson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Austin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Peterson escapes and throws Austin's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Peterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Peterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
