Riker comes to the cage accompanied by In The Summertime. Thulani comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Zara - Sojaboy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mandlenkosi Thulani!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thulani misses with a straight left.
Thulani rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Riker counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Riker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Thulani's head.
Riker thows a huge punch but Thulani dodges it nicely.
Riker is keen to just control but Thulani is a slippery customer.
Riker trying to pass the guard but Thulani defending well.
Thulani is looking for a sweep. Riker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Thulani wants to control but Riker is keeping busy.
Thulani is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Riker is staying active.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riker lands with a punch from half guard.

Thulani is staying active underneath Riker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Riker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've been hearing good reports from Riker's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Riker slips a nice elbow through Thulani's hands, connecting with Thulani's forehead.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
