PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Litchfield (ranked 4416 p4p, 4582 weight class) and Illa Vanilla (ranked 0 p4p, 527 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Litchfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Illa Vanilla!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Litchfield gets a clinch.
Vanilla tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Litchfield's elbow.
Litchfield lands with a light punch inside.
Vanilla has Litchfield pressed against the cage, preventing Litchfield from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Litchfield pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vanilla attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Litchfield closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Litchfield throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vanilla's waist but Vanilla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Litchfield off to one side.

Vanilla shoots in looking for a takedown. Litchfield tries to sprawl out of it but Vanilla keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Litchfield manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Illa Vanilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Litchfield looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vanilla is fending him off so far but Litchfield persists. Nope, Vanilla circles away and we're back to standing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close second round but I would say that James Litchfield will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Litchfield, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
