PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Haw Thorn (ranked 1673 p4p, 1434 weight class) and Chidi Chika (ranked 62 p4p, 50 weight class). Thorn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Chidi Chika will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorn throws a lazy uppercut
and Chika cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Chika has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Chika throws a body shot but no joy.
Thorn swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Thorn lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Chidi Chika seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chika bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Thorn's head.
Chika throws a front kick aimed at Thorn's knee but Thorn avoids it well.
Chika lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Chika has Thorn pressed against the cage, preventing Thorn from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

I was talking to Thorn's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Chika tries to throw a body punch but Thorn avoids it by throwing Chika back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Chika creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

and Chika counters with a head kick. That will keep Thorn thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
