Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, LaVern Shirley!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirley throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Beware.

It looks like KoKo Beware has been cut.
Beware shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shirley as he jumps to the side.
Beware shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shirley pinned against the cage. Shirley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shirley just misses with a punch to the body.
Shirley fails in his attempt to clinch.

Shirley forces Beware back against the ropes and clinches.
Beware's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Shirley breaks from the clinch.

Shirley takes the fight into the clinch.
Shirley stops a takedown attempt from Beware.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KoKo Beware. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beware tries to roll over but Shirley keeps him under control.

Shirley is trying to control the action in half guard but Beware is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Beware tries to lock up and control but Shirley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Beware is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Beware swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Beware takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Shirley is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Beware can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Shirley loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Beware scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Shirley land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Shirley stands and salutes the crowd.
