Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ty Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Burrows!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burrows has a takedown stuffed.
Burrows moves in looking to clinch but Wong pushes him off.
Burrows fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wong swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Wong drives through with a takedown into Burrows's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Burrows has momentary wrist control but Wong slips an elbow through the middle.
Wong drops back looking for a leg! Burrows is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burrows manages to kick Wong off! Wong jumps back into Burrows's guard.
Wong trying to control but Burrows is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wong lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Burrows looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wong is one step ahead there.
Burrows has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Wong is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Wong passes Burrows's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Burrows avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wong.
Wong scoring with strikes to the body and head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wong works his foot free and advances to mount.
Wong scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Burrows tries to hold on but Wong pushes him away.
Burrows has left one of his arms exposed and Wong doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Burrows screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ty Wong!
Ty Wong decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
