PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bull Mfer (ranked 165 p4p, 268 weight class) and Tony Stark (ranked 30 p4p, 40 weight class). The key to victory for Bull Mfer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bull Mfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Stark!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mfer throws a head kick that misses

and Stark counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Mfer kicks off Stark and gets to his feet.
Mfer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Stark counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stark with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mfer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Stark tries to free his leg and advance position but Mfer is retaining full guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Mfer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stark defends it easily.
Stark has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stark passes into half guard.
Stark throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mfer avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stark.

Mfer looking for submissions off his back.

Stark looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stark is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mfer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stark.

Stark tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mfer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Stark thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mfer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stark pulls his head out easily.
Stark uses his free foot to push down on Mfer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mfer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mfer is looking to get to half guard.
Stark looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Stark forces the positional change into back control.

Stark is looking for the choke from the back position but Mfer is controlling his hands well.

Mfer defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Stark's arms.
You can see the frustration on Mfer's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Stark is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mfer wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.
Stark is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Stark is working for a kimura but Mfer is defending it quite comfortably.
Mfer tries to get to full guard but Stark has control of the leg.

Mfer kicks Stark off and gets back to his feet.

Stark is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mfer sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mfer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stark swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mfer just misses with a punch to the body.
Mfer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stark changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mfer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mfer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mfer looks to land a combination but Stark avoids it well.
Stark tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Mfer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stark sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Mfer scores with a jab. Stark acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stark circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mfer connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Stark dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Stark keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd cheers as Mfer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stark doesn't seem phased though.

Mfer rushes Stark and presses him up against the cage.
Mfer misses with a knee to the head.
Stark changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mfer fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Stark clinches.
Stark can't get the takedown.
Mfer misses with an elbow over the top.
Stark tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mfer avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stark wants a takedown but no success here.
Bull Mfer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Stark.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Mfer just misses with a elbow thrown towards Stark's brow.
Mfer tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Stark avoids it.
Stark has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mfer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Stark tries for a takedown but Mfer manages to get underhooks.
Mfer lands an elbow inside that Stark shrugs off.

It looks like Tony Stark has been cut.
Mfer missing with knees to the body.

Stark decides to pull guard.
Mfer wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.
Mfer controls from within his opponent's guard.
Stark manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mfer manages to get himself to full guard.

Stark forces his way into half guard.
Mfer regains full guard. Nicely done.
Stark slips nicely into half guard.
Stark throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mfer is in trouble now - Stark has advanced to mount!
Mfer tries to reverse the position but Stark maintains control.
Stark breaks from Mfer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Stark fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Stark throws some wild stikes that Mfer manages to avoid easily.

Stark is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mfer is surviving well by controlling Stark's body position as best he can.
Mfer manages to regain half guard. Good work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stark is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mfer sees it coming and defends easily.

Stark is looking for a kimura but Mfer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stark to get the leverage.
Mfer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Mfer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Stark drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Stark as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Mfer screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Stark! Nice submission victory there!
