Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Wheel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lester Pearson!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wheel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wheel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pearson tries to reverse the position but Wheel maintains control.
Wheel trying to control but Pearson is having none of it.
Pearson is working to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wheel wants to control the pace but Pearson is squirming around nicely.
Pearson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pearson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wheel sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pearson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Wheel trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Wheel prevents Pearson from getting the reversal.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wheel throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Wheel looking to finish Pearson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pearson!
Pearson is trying to escape the mount.
Pearson wants to control but Wheel is having none of it.

Pearson manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Pearson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wheel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Wheel is pushing down on Pearson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pearson is fighting to maintain full guard but Wheel has managed to sneak the leg through.
Pearson wants to get back to full guard.
Pearson moves into full guard.
Pearson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wheel manages to get himself to full guard.

Pearson passes Wheel's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pearson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Wheel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pearson throwing shots but Wheel is blocking nicely.
Pearson is thwarting Wheel's attempts to control the position.
Pearson is looking to stall here but Wheel recovers full guard.
Wheel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wheel fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wheel misses with a leg kick.

Pearson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Pearson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pearson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Pearson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Wheel!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A nice elbow there by Pearson.

Wheel is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Pearson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wheel can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Pearson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wheel looks a forlorn figure.
Pearson controlling the position easily from mount.
The referee warns Wheel that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


It looks like Paul Wheel has been cut.
Wheel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pearson on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pearson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wheel is in a horrible position here. Pearson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Wheel is rocked!
A big strike lands for Pearson! That's really hurt Wheel and he's turned his back - Pearson keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Pearson Jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lester Pearson!
