Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Clarence Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Gilmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clarence Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Gilmore!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Jones.
Jones tries to clinch up but Gilmore circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gilmore is trying to control the position but Jones postures up.
Jones wants to stand but Gilmore is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Gilmore avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gilmore has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jones.

Gilmore closes the distance and clinches.

Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gilmore has him pressed against the cage.
Gilmore goes for a takedown attempt but Jones pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Gilmore lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

and Gilmore decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
Gilmore wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.

Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jones has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gilmore is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jones.

Gilmore working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Jones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gilmore is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Clarence Jones will probably get the nod.

Gilmore turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gilmore manages to end up in side control.

Gilmore drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Gilmore off! Gilmore jumps back into Jones's guard.

Clarence Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Gilmore.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gilmore is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Jones Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gilmore's back instead.

Jones is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
