Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between frank zappa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrzej Gach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

zappa forces Gach back against the cage and clinches.
zappa working some nice short punches in the clinch.
zappa tries a knee to the head but Gach blocks it.

A nice glancing elbow lands by zappa.
zappa is looking to break free of the clinch but Gach has double underhooks.

zappa is pushing Gach up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

zappa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gach is just too persistent for him and manages to trip zappa to the mat. zappa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
zappa throws a sloppy head kick and Gach moves out of range easily.
Gach looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? zappa is fending him off so far but Gach persists. Nope, zappa circles away and we're back to standing.

frank zappa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrzej Gach.
zappa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gach.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

zappa moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
zappa scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Gach fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
zappa goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
zappa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Gach gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Gach chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before zappa can pounce on him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

zappa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
zappa throws a leg kick which misses Gach's front leg but catches the back leg as Gach tries to avoid it.

Gach tries to close the distance and clinch but zappa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

zappa connects with a good right hand that stumbles Gach. Gach circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Gach looks for a takedown but zappa sprawls well.
Gach's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
This has been an exciting period of action!
zappa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gach paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gach shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has zappa pinned against the cage. zappa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
zappa lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

zappa lands with a shot to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from zappa lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gach has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gach and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

zappa slips a jab and a cross from Gach.
Gach changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. zappa tries to avoid it but Gach manages to keep hold of a leg and drag zappa to the ground. zappa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gach moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
zappa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gach can do to turn this around?
Gach steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from zappa. That one must have hurt.

zappa closes the distance and clinches.
zappa gets through Gach's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Gach has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. zappa avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

zappa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Gach is just too persistent for him and manages to trip zappa to the mat. zappa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

zappa's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Gach tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gach on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by zappa. zappa obviously looking to wear him down.
zappa works over Gach's head and body with a nice combination.
Gach takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
zappa lands a front kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gach sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

zappa is looking to sweep but instead, Gach has passed into half guard.
Gach is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gach throws a strike but zappa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gach manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
frank zappa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
You get the feeling that zappa really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Poor strikes thrown by Gach there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
zappa wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
zappa wants to control but Gach is having none of it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for zappa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
