PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vito Wawelski (ranked 4640 p4p, 4637 weight class) and Guy Fieri (ranked 539 p4p, 541 weight class). Wawelski comes to the cage accompanied by The Less I Know The Better. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guy Fieri!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fieri is looking to clinch.
Fieri lands with a kick to the ribs.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wawelski or perhaps it was just good defense by Fieri, which made it look bad.

Fieri darts in and clinches Wawelski up against the cage.
Fieri has Wawelski pressed against the cage, preventing Wawelski from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wawelski fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Fieri landing some nice looking knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wawelski is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Fieri gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Wawelski is trying to push Fieri away but Fieri has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Wawelski shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fieri is trying to defend but Wawelski finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wawelski is trying to control the action in half guard but Fieri is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wawelski jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fieri walks away with a smile on his face. Wawelski gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Wawelski has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wawelski there as he acknowledges the shot.
Both fighters circling a little - Fieri finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Fieri connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wawelski . Wawelski circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Fieri lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wawelski backs up against the cage.

Wawelski tries to score a body lock takedown but Fieri shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Wawelski has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fieri is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Guy Fieri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fieri has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
