PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steven Seagull (ranked 3165 p4p, 2038 weight class) and Davey Hilton Jr (ranked 176 p4p, 120 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Steven Seagull has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Steven Seagull seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Steven Seagull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Davey Hilton Jr!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seagull forces Hilton Jr back against the cage and clinches.
Seagull misses with a body punch.
Hilton Jr throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hilton Jr tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hilton Jr using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Hilton Jr utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Still in the clinch, Seagull scores with a nice short uppercut.

Seagull works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Hilton Jr has his foot on Seagull's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Seagull works his way back into a safe position though.

Hilton Jr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Seagull trying to control but Hilton Jr is working from the bottom.
Hilton Jr is trying to control the position but Seagull postures up.

Seagull avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Seagull is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Seagull passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Seagull definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Seagull controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hilton Jr tries to buck Seagull off but Seagull is having none of it.

Seagull is trying to get an arm triangle but Hilton Jr is defending well.
Hilton Jr tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Seagull wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Seagull wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hilton Jr, who protects the arm well.

Seagull is working to tighten his grip on Hilton Jr's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hilton Jr has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Seagull is really squeezing tight and eventually Hilton Jr passes out! Seagull breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Steven Seagull!
After winning the bout, Steven Seagull thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
