Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Burrows!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Taylor Monroe!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burrows avoids the head kick by Monroe.
Monroe closes the distance and clinches up with Burrows, looking for a takedown. Monroe pushes Burrows against the cage but Burrows circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Burrows went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Monroe shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burrows defends it nicely.
Burrows forces Monroe back against the cage and clinches.
Burrows is trying to pull guard but Monroe has him pressed against the cage.

Monroe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Monroe shoots in looking for a takedown. Burrows tries to sprawl out of it but Monroe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burrows manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Burrows's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Burrows duly obliges.
Burrows fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Monroe avoids it really well and circles away.
And Monroe tries to counter it with a takedown but Burrows pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Burrows has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Monroe uses from the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Burrows looks to move to half guard but instead Monroe has passed into mount! Damn!
Burrows tries to control Monroe's body but Monroe pushes him off. Burrows squirms to his side and now Monroe has his back!
Burrows just trying to survive but Monroe is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Monroe tries to get the hooks in deep but Burrows pushed the leg off.

Monroe keeps control of the position as Burrows tries to break free.
Monroe misses with an elbow to the head.
Monroe is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Burrows defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Monroe is hanging on to Burrows's back as he tries to escape.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alex Burrows.
