PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Genghis Kant (ranked 2656 p4p, 5098 weight class) and Mason Daniel (ranked 349 p4p, 547 weight class). Kant comes to the ring accompanied by Sons of Plunder. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Genghis Kant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mason Daniel!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daniel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Daniel trying to mount his opponent but Kant defends it.
Kant is controlling Daniel's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Kant slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Daniel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kant swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kant looking for a sweep. Not yet Kant, not yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniel passes into half guard.
Daniel is looking to take a break and control but Kant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Daniel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kant wants to get back to full guard but Daniel has mounted him!
Kant is squirming around, avoiding Daniel's attempts to control the action.

Kant holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Kant on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kant tries to get out of the position.
Kant is trying to maintain the position but Daniel is very close to passing his half guard.
Daniel is trying to control. Kant wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kant is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Kant is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Daniel is aware though and is defending well.

Daniel's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Daniel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Daniel trying to control the position from guard on top but Kant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Daniel closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Daniel lands in his opponent's guard.

Daniel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kant throws his legs up looking for a submission but Daniel uses it to pass to side control.
Kant is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Daniel off and has taken his back!
Kant tries to keep control of the position but Daniel is staying busy.
Kant scores with punches from the back.
Kant is landing with strikes from the back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
I would not like to be Daniel right now.
Daniel tries to roll but Kant sticks to his back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mason Daniel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Kant fails with the takedown.
Kant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Daniel as he jumps to the side.
Daniel is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kant with a body shot.

Kant drives through and clinches with Daniel against the ropes.

Daniel pulls Kant into guard.
Kant tries to free his leg and advance position but Daniel is retaining full guard.
Daniel controls Kant momentarily but Kant frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason Daniel has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Daniel is looking for a triangle but Kant pushes his legs off easily.
Daniel wants to sweep here but Kant controlling him for the moment.
Daniel is trying to control the position but Kant postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Daniel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kant. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Daniel can't keep his opponent in guard - Kant advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Daniel tries to roll over but Kant keeps him under control.
Kant slows the pace down in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kant takes the fight into the clinch.

Daniel drags the fight down to the ground.
Kant showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Kant with a nice head shot there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kant is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Daniel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kant is one step ahead there.

Daniel looking for a guillotine here but Kant defends easily.
Daniel is breathing heavily.
Kant sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kant won't allow Daniel to sweep him here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kant content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Daniel looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kant puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Kant trying to control the pace.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kant seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Daniel for as long as he can get away with.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Genghis Kant dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kant lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Kant with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Daniel tries to get to full guard but Kant has control of the leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daniel is pressing down on Kant's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Kant distracts Daniel with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kant wants to control from the top but Daniel keeps moving.
Kant cracks Daniel with a solid left hand.
Kant is stalling in the full guard.
Kant wants to control from the top but Daniel keeps moving.
Kant controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Daniel has an active guard here but Kant has managed to pass into half guard.
Daniel has a hand on Kant's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kant takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Daniel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kant is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Daniel can do to turn this around?

Kant raining down shots from the mount!
Kant scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Kant loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Daniel scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Kant land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Kant stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Genghis Kant!
