PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kermit Archer (ranked 575 p4p, 153 weight class) and Tony Stark (ranked 85 p4p, 25 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kermit Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Stark!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ben Watson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Archer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Stark.

Stark fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Archer to the ground. Stark is now in Archer's guard.

Stark has gone for a leg lock! Archer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stark's guard.


Stark is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Archer defends well.
Archer lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Stark throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Archer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Archer's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Archer postures up and lands a big shot to Stark's brow.
Stark throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Archer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stark has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Archer has managed to get both his arms back between Stark's legs - danger averted.

Stark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Archer's guard.

Stark wants to pass the guard but Archer is keeping the position.
Archer thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Stark in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Stark drops back, looking for a kneebar! Archer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Archer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Archer!

Stark flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Stark moves into full guard.
Stark throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Stark is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Archer is aware though and is defending well.

Archer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Stark goes for a double leg but Archer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Archer continues to drive forward.

Archer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Archer showed some decent athleticism there.

Archer looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stark with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
