PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Bronco (ranked 1471 p4p, 1343 weight class) and Eddie Kekoa (ranked 197 p4p, 180 weight class). Bronco comes to the cage accompanied by The Horses - Daryl Braithwaite . Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 15 - 10 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eddie Kekoa!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bronco lands a jab to the head.
Kekoa thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bronco throws a hook to the side of Kekoa's head but Kekoa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bronco shoots in and drives through. Kekoa sprawls well.
Bronco scores with a jab.
Bronco takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Bronco tries to close the distance and clinch but Kekoa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bronco makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kekoa tries to work over Bronco's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Bronco fails to pull guard.
Kekoa struggles to land a body shot inside as Bronco controls his hands.
Kekoa doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Bronco tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Kekoa creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Bronco's defenses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kekoa cracks Bronco with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The fighters circling - Bronco throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Eddie Kekoa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

An attempted straight right counter from Bronco misses the target.
Kekoa darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Johnny Bronco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bronco feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kekoa has his foot on Bronco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bronco works his way back into a safe position though.
Bronco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bronco wants to control from the top but Kekoa keeps moving.

Bronco is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kekoa throws a jab when Bronco was well out of range.
Bronco attempts a counter takedown but Kekoa avoids it well and moves away.
Bronco shoots in but Kekoa avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kekoa slaps away a takedown attempt from Bronco, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bronco closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kekoa circles away.

Bronco throws an overhand right that lands on Kekoa's shoulder, as Kekoa tries to avoid the shot.

and Kekoa counters with a huge left! Bronco is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kekoa isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Bronco from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kekoa!
