In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 7 losses; Bogdan Kersikov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 18 losses; Artur Azaryan!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.

Kersikov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kersikov wants it to stay on the feet.
We've been told by Kersikov's head coaches at KFA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Azaryan has taken the fight to the clinch.

We've been informed that Azaryan has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Kersikov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Azaryan regains guard immediately.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Azaryan controls Kersikov momentarily but Kersikov frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Azaryan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kersikov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Azaryan has control of Kersikov's left arm, preventing Kersikov from doing any damage.

Kersikov is taking a breather. Azaryan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kersikov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Azaryan is defending against the submission attempts here by Kersikov.

Kersikov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Azaryan for as long as he can get away with.
Azaryan wants to control but Kersikov is keeping busy.

Kersikov wants to free his trapped foot but Azaryan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Azaryan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kersikov is working away from the top position though.

Kersikov is looking to advance position but Azaryan won't allow it.

Azaryan wants to control but Kersikov is keeping busy.
Azaryan wants to get back to full guard but Kersikov has mounted him!

Kersikov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kersikov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Kersikov is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Kersikov is trying to take his opponent's back.
Azaryan tries to improve his position but instead Kersikov has taken his back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round.

Kersikov looking to break Azaryan's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Azaryan remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Kersikov will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round.

Kersikov has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Azaryan is defending well but eventually Kersikov manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Azaryan has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 13:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bogdan Kersikov!
A relieved looking Bogdan Kersikov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
