PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Stanley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon has chosen Don't Stop Believing by Journey as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Stanley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Phil Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dixon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stanley sprawls well initially but Dixon persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Stanley is not content to let Dixon control the position.
Dixon prevents Stanley from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dixon is looking for a kimura here.

Dixon is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stanley is not content to let Dixon control the position.
Stanley is trying to get back to full guard.

Dixon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stanley wants to improve his position but Dixon is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stanley misses with a takedown attempt

and Dixon moves into the clinch.
Stanley is trying to break free.
Dixon has Stanley pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stanley manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Stanley tries to break the clinch but Dixon is controlling the position.
Dixon tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Dixon gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Dixon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stanley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dixon.
Dixon looks gassed!

Dixon is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stanley has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dixon missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Stanley slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Dixon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stanley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dixon wants to control from the top but Stanley keeps moving.

Dixon is sitting in close to Stanley's body. Stanley has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Dixon is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Dixon is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Stanley.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Paul Stanley!
