Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Wonder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fighter Guy!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wonder throws a lazy uppercut
and Guy counters with a nice body shot.
Wonder tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Guy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Guy dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wonder tries for a takedown but Guy circles away easily
and Guy counters with a nice body shot.
Guy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Guy scores with a jab to the jaw.
Wonder moves to clinch but Guy breaks away
and Guy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Wonder wants to clinch but Guy slips to the side
and Guy counters with a nice body shot.
Guy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wonder tries to close the distance and clinch but Guy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Guy looks like he wants to counter punch here.
A left lands for Guy.
Fighter Guy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheers as Guy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wonder doesn't seem phased though.
Wonder takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Guy punishes Wonder's body with a nice straight punch.

Wonder decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Wonder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Guy is trying to stand.
Guy looks winded!
Wonder stalling.
Guy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Wonder trying to control the pace.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guy pushes Wonder off looking to stand but Wonder dives back in and keeps control.
Wonder slips a nice elbow through Guy's hands, connecting with Guy's forehead.
Wonder lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Wonder is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Wonder passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guy is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guy can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wonder controlling from the full mount.
Wonder is landing with some decent strikes but Guy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Wonder trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Guy is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wonder cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Wonder landing strikes from the mount.
Wonder putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Guy is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wonder is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Wonder!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Gene Wonder!
