PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Time To Fight Wright (ranked 5037 p4p, 25400 weight class) and Hippo Saurus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saurus has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Time To Fight Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hippo Saurus!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright swinging wildly here.
Saurus looks winded!
Saurus needs to keep his hands up - Wright had a free shot at his head there.
Wright cracks Saurus with a good jab.
Wright lands an overhand right.
Wright scores with a one two! Saurus had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Wright scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Wright moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wright scores with a crisp jab that stopped Saurus in his tracks.
Wright connects with a body shot.
Saurus shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wright sprawls well. Wright wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Saurus gets slowly back to his feet.
Saurus drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Saurus walks into a stiff left hand from Wright.
The fighters circle momentarily. Wright darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wright lands a lovely overhand right.
A punch combination from Wright misses.
Saurus tries to counter by closing the distance.
A left and a right from Wright both land. Nice combination.
Wright changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Good shot there by Wright.
Wright shoots in looking for a takedown. Saurus tries to sprawl out of it but Wright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saurus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wright uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Saurus has time to react.

Wright moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wright fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wright tries to clinch but Saurus moves out of range.
Wright smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wright is looking to clinch but Saurus is avoiding it.
Saurus with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wright to score with a decent uppercut.
Wright feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sauruss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Wright throws a right and a left that Saurus avoids nicely.
Time To Fight Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wright doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Saurus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wright scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Wright tries to clinch but Saurus moves out of range.
Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Saurus but Saurus pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Time To Fight Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sloppy strikes from Wright. Those never looked like landing.
Saurus takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wright dives in and grabs Saurus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Saurus pushes down on Wright's head and hops out.
Saurus moves forwards but Wright connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Wright lands a lovely overhand right.
Wright lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Saurus takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Wright moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wright scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Saurus doesn't seem bothered though.
Saurus is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Wright.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wright pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Saurus back to the cage. Wright follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Wright throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Wright is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Wright scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Wright is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

A jab lands there for Wright.
Wright will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wright is working the combinations to good effect here.
Wright tries to clinch but Saurus is having none of it.
And Saurus tries to counter it with a takedown but Wright pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Wright looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wright goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Wright lands a jab.
Wright swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Saurus is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wright shoots in for a takedown but Saurus shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Saurus misses with a wild body shot.
Wright tries to clinch but Saurus moves out of range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Time To Fight Wright dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wright lunges at Saurus with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Saurus's hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Saurus is defended easily by Wright.
Wright smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Saurus has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Saurus gets caught napping as Wright dives in and scores a takedown. Saurus manages to retain guard.
Saurus keeping full guard, as Wright tries to pass.

Wright is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright throws a big elbow that misses.
Saurus is breathing heavily.

Wright works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Saurus is trying to maintain the position but Wright is very close to passing his half guard.

Wright wants to work for an arm triangle but Saurus is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wright is trying to control the action in half guard but Saurus is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wright tries to pass the half guard into mount. Saurus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Wright is working hard here to advance position.
Wright seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Saurus does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wright in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Saurus tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Wright!
