PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sulaiman Sayed (ranked 4597 p4p, 4669 weight class) and Johan Otterdahl (ranked 268 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sulaiman Sayed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johan Otterdahl!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Sayed throws a right and a left that both miss.
A little jabbing left from Otterdahl on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Sayed closes the distance and clinches up with Otterdahl, looking for a takedown. Sayed pushes Otterdahl against the cage but Otterdahl circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sayed shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Otterdahl pinned against the cage. Otterdahl gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Otterdahl let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sayed looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Sayed controlling the action here.
Otterdahl wants to stand back up but Sayed manages to pass into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sayed tries to stand but Otterdahl is controlling his head.
Otterdahl wants to control but Sayed postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Otterdahl can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sayed is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Otterdahl can't do much from the bottom here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sayed takes a little break here. Otterdahl wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Sayed tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Otterdahl tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sayed is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Sayed misses with a takedown attempt
and Otterdahl counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sulaiman Sayed. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sayed looking to score a takedown here. Otterdahl is defending well but Sayed drives through and ends up in Otterdahl's guard.
Otterdahl is looking to stand back up but Sayed counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Otterdahl.

Sayed doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Otterdahl makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sayed is defended easily by Otterdahl.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sayed closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Otterdahl bucks up and tries to throw Sayed off but instead Sayed has got his back!
Otterdahl should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sayed controls the position.

Otterdahl is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sayed controlling well, preventing Otterdahl from escaping the position.
Sayed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sayed is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Sayed throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Otterdahl is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Sayed.
Otterdahl trying to control the position but Sayed manages to sink in the hooks.
Sayed is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Otterdahl trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Sulaiman Sayed overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sayed controlling the position well here. Otterdahl rolled but Sayed kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Sayed is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Otterdahl can do to turn this around?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Otterdahl stuffs the takedown.
Sayed tries to clinch up but Otterdahl circles away and keeps his distance.
Otterdahl displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sayed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Otterdahl now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Sayed looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Otterdahl is fending him off so far but Sayed persists. Nope, Otterdahl circles away and we're back to standing.
Otterdahl doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Sulaiman Sayed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sayed drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sayed is standing up over Otterdahl. Otterdahl looks to escape but Sayed dives into side control.

Otterdahl is letting Sayed control him for a moment.

Sayed has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Otterdahl tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Sayed presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Sayed tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Otterdahl is looking to improve his position but Sayed isn't that keen on the idea.
Sayed content just to control the position here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Johan Otterdahl.
I think Sayed has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
