PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greenn Jessuzz (ranked 5768 p4p, 4689 weight class) and Jack Boatwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jessuzz has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greenn Jessuzz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Boatwright!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boatwright goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jessuzz darts in looking for a takedown but Boatwright gets double underhooks and turns Jessuzz into the cage.
Boatwright feints the counter takedown.
Jessuzz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Boatwright has Jessuzz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Boatwright pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jessuzz tumbling to the mat - Boatwright dives into Jessuzz's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jessuzz can't keep his opponent in guard - Boatwright advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jessuzz wants to control but Boatwright is keeping busy and won't allow it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Boatwright in particular looking to stall.
Boatwright is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jessuzz tries to roll over but Boatwright keeps him under control.
Boatwright tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jessuzz.

It looks like Boatwright might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boatwright is still trying to improve position.
Jessuzz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Jessuzz wants to improve his position but Boatwright is controlling well.
Jessuzz gets back to full guard.
Boatwright stays in close to Jessuzz's body and controls the position.

Jessuzz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Boatwright tries to free his leg and advance position but Jessuzz is retaining full guard.
Jessuzz controls Boatwright momentarily but Boatwright frees himself.

Jessuzz has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Boatwright is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jessuzz.

Jessuzz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Boatwright fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jessuzz, pushing him back against the cage.

Boatwright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jessuzz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Boatwright is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jessuzz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Boatwright.

Jessuzz is looking for a sweep. Boatwright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boatwright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jessuzz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Boatwright is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jessuzz is just riding it out for now. Boatwright eventually gives up the hold.
Jessuzz is trying to maintain the position but Boatwright is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jessuzz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boatwright defends well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jessuzz shoots in for a takedown but Boatwright shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Boatwright unleashes a big counter combination but Jessuzz bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Boatwright throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jessuzz was covering up waiting for the punch and Boatwright finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Boatwright has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Let's hope that Boatwright has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well Boatwright has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
