Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Beardsley (ranked 1221 p4p, 2628 weight class) and Daniel Spong (ranked 178 p4p, 353 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Spong!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beardsley connects with a right hand. Spong shakes it off.
Beardsley throws a shot from downtown. Spong moves away and avoids it.
Spong throws out a counter right but Beardsley avoids it with no problem.
Spong checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Beardsley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Spong has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Spong has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Spong there as he acknowledges the shot.
Beardsley moves out of range of the strikes.
Spong swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Beardsley closes the distance and clinches.
Beardsley scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Spong lands a left hand.
Beardsley misses with a punch on the inside.
Spong cracks Beardsley with a nice body shot.
Spong blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Beardsley is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Spong cracks Beardsley with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Beardsley looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Spong finish him?

Spong arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Beardsley's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
