PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zee Land (ranked 354 p4p, 400 weight class) and Jakov Pavlek (ranked 50 p4p, 61 weight class). Land kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Pavlek has chosen Cool Kids of Death - Czloweik Mucha as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavlek drops his hands momentarily and Land takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Pavlek keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Land.
A telegraphed right hand from Land misses the target.
Land misses with a leg kick
and Pavlek counters with a slapping leg kick.
Pavlek connects with a nice looking jab.
Land feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pavleks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Pavlek uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Land.
Pavlek throws a jab when Land was well out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Land has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Land really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Land fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pavlek manages to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Land has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Land and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Pavlek is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Land.

Land does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Land looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pavlek is fending him off so far but Land persists. Nope, Pavlek circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pavlek throws a lazy right hand but Land sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

A nice inside leg kick there by Land. That's going to slow Pavlek down.
Pavlek dips to his left and cracks Land with an uppercut!

Land closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Land in particular looking to stall.

Land perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Land will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Pavlek manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Land manages to get himself to full guard.

Land has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pavlek can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pavlek is looking to work some ground and pound but Land has wrist control.

Land has his foot on Pavlek's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pavlek works his way back into a safe position though.

Land drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Land jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Land manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pavlek manages to get himself to full guard.

Pavlek is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Land is controlling him.

Land is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pavlek sees it coming and defends easily.

Zee Land overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pavlek is looking to stand up but Land isn't so interested in that idea.
Land is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pavlek pushes Land off looking to stand but Land dives back in and keeps control.
Pavlek is looking for a sweep. Land is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Land maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pavlek could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Land has cracked it and Pavlek is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Land!
