PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Hent (ranked 6431 p4p, 4996 weight class) and Juan Khan (ranked 679 p4p, 580 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harvey Hent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Khan!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hent avoids the head kick by Khan.

Hent shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hent was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hent looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hent working away.

Hent tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan manages to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khan is defending against the submission attempts here by Hent.

Hent is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Khan has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hent prevents Khan from improving his position.
Khan is trying to maintain the position but Hent is very close to passing his half guard.

Hent is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Khan defends it well.

Hent is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hent looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Khan wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khan is just riding it out for now. Hent eventually gives up the hold.

Hent is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Khan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khan is just riding it out for now. Hent eventually gives up the hold.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hent is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Harvey Hent dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Khan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hent to the mat! Hent manages to get full guard.
Hent avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hent keeping moving, preventing Khan from controlling successfully.
Khan slips nicely into half guard.
Khan wants to take a breather but Hent is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khan stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hent to get to his feet.
Hent misses with a takedown
and Khan counters with a series of strikes. Hent will be more careful next time no doubt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hent dives in and grabs Khan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Khan pushes down on Hent's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Khan pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Hent tries to keep at a distance but Khan has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hent has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Khan after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harvey Hent. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hent is trying to drag Khan to the mat but Khan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Khan breaks the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hent or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan, which made it look bad.
Khan throws a leg kick which misses Hent's front leg but catches the back leg as Hent tries to avoid it.

Khan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Khan throws a sloppy head kick and Hent moves out of range easily.
Khan leaves Hent with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Khan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hent quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khan is trying to control the action in half guard but Hent is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Harvey Hent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hent manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Hent changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Khan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Khan tries to improve position but can't.

Hent is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hent has an Americana. Khan didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hent is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hent hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Harvey Hent!
As Harvey Hent got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: What ya got to say now bitch motherfuckers always talkin bout some shit yet not fightin like I fightin'.
