PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Kluba (ranked 552 p4p, 1430 weight class) and Tatu Kurri (ranked 77 p4p, 194 weight class). Kluba comes into the arena with Kiss The Girl blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Kluba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tatu Kurri!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurri will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kurri throws an off balance right hand
enabling Kluba to counter with a crisp jab.
Kurri lands a glancing blow to the side of Kluba's head.
Kurri misses with a two punch combination.
Kluba was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Kurri shoots in and gets a takedown into Kluba's guard.
Kurri slips nicely into half guard.

Kurri is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kluba preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Kluba is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kurri's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kurri's back!

Kluba has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kurri's body.

Kluba is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Kluba gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Kluba gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Kluba apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Kluba throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kurri throws out a counter right but Kluba avoids it with no problem.
Sebastian Kluba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kluba moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kurri scores with a sloppy right hand. Kluba should have avoided that one.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kurri. Kluba does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kurri scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kurri wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Sebastian Kluba has been cut.
Kurri misses with a left hand
and Kluba cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kurri decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kluba makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kluba.

Kurri wants to control from the top but Kluba keeps moving.
Kluba manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kurri manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kurri controls Kluba momentarily but Kluba frees himself.

Kurri throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Kluba chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kurri wants to sweep here but Kluba controlling him for the moment.

Kurri looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kurri flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Kluba seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kluba lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Kluba is keen to just control but Kurri is a slippery customer.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sebastian Kluba will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

It looks like Tatu Kurri has been cut.
Kluba displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kurri throws out the jab.
Kluba just misses with a punch to the body.
Kurri's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kluba connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kurri scrambles back to his feet.

Kurri throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kluba was covering up waiting for the punch and Kurri finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kurri tries to free his leg and advance position but Kluba is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kurri is still trying to improve position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kurri accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kurri goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

No luck for Kurri with that takedown attempt.
A quick step to the side and Kluba tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kluba looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Kurri shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kluba napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tatu Kurri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Kluba misses the jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Kurri.
Kurri has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Kurri takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kluba throws out a loose jab but Kurri uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kluba ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kluba throws a right hand that Kurri ducks under and follows up with a left that Kurri also avoids with ease.

Kurri bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kurri swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Kluba to counter with a crisp jab.
Kurri thuds his right hand into Kluba's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kluba throws a jab but it's blocked by Kurri.

Kurri forces Kluba back against the cage and clinches.
Kluba is trying to maintain a safe position but Kurri gets an underhook and turns Kluba into the cage.

Kurri is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kluba can't fight it off and eventually Kurri manages to take the fight to the floor. Kluba looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kluba is looking for a sweep. Kurri is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kurri is working for a kimura but Kluba is defending it quite comfortably.
Kluba is trying to stand up here but Kurri is controlling him well.

Kurri is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kluba is trying to control but can't.
Kurri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kluba keeps working.
Kurri works his way into full mount!

Kluba is working hard here to advance position.
Kurri is landing with some decent strikes but Kluba is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Tatu Kurri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kurri has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
