PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Holmes Jr (ranked 905 p4p, 1097 weight class) and Professor Xe (ranked 141 p4p, 173 weight class). Holmes Jr kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Red - Damage. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Holmes Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Professor Xe!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Ben Watson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes Jr will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Holmes Jr closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Xe throws a series of punches but Holmes Jr avoids them all with ease.
Xe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Holmes Jr was well out of range. Poor timing from Xe.
Xe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Holmes Jr.
Holmes Jr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Xe throws a hook to the side of Holmes Jr's head but Holmes Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Xe cracks a nice hook into Holmes Jr's ribs.
Xe looks to land a left hand but Holmes Jr moved out of range nicely.
Holmes Jr throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Xe's head.

It looks like Professor Xe has been cut.
Holmes Jr looks to score with a jab to the body but Xe is just out of range.
A big right from Holmes Jr misses.
Holmes Jr misses with a straight left.
Holmes Jr has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Oblivion Gate in the buildup to the fight.

Holmes Jr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Xe throws a one two combo.

Xe blocks a leg kick.
Xe falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Holmes Jr counter with a right hand.
Holmes Jr looks to score with a jab to the body but Xe is just out of range.
Xe tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Holmes Jr throws a lazy uppercut

so Xe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Holmes Jr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xe's guard.

Xe looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Xe has his foot on Holmes Jr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Holmes Jr works his way back into a safe position though.

Xe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Holmes Jr wants to control from the top but Xe keeps moving.
Holmes Jr wants to stand but Xe has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Xe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Holmes Jr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Holmes Jr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Xe looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Holmes Jr passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holmes Jr tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Holmes Jr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Xe has escaped the position, nice work there.
Holmes Jr is looking to take a break and control but Xe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Holmes Jr slows the pace down.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Holmes Jr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Xe keeps working.
Xe is trying to improve his position.
Xe is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Holmes Jr's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Xe is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Holmes Jr is tapping! Great win for Xe!

A relieved looking Professor Xe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
