PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Flavio Ramacciotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thierry Kongo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramacciotti comes to the cage accompanied by No Surprises. Thierry Kongo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kongo throws a leg kick but Ramacciotti moved away.
Kongo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kongo looks to land a body kick but Ramacciotti moved away.
Kongo misses with a kick to the body.

Kongo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kongo lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kongo drops back looking for a leg! Ramacciotti is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ramacciotti manages to kick Kongo off! Kongo jumps back into Ramacciotti's guard.

Kongo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kongo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kongo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ramacciotti dives on top into guard.

Kongo is looking for a triangle here but Ramacciotti uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kongo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Ramacciotti wants to work for an arm triangle but Kongo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kongo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

It looks like Flavio Ramacciotti has been cut.
Kongo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ramacciotti checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kongo tries to advance to mount but Ramacciotti denies him.

Kongo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ramacciotti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Kongo has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ramacciotti is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kongo yanks on the arm and Ramacciotti is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kongo.
