Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shigatsu Miyamoto (ranked 6610 p4p, 5172 weight class) and Jake Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 280 weight class). Miyamoto's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, 82.99 FM. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren with a hook.
Miyamoto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Askren manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Askren looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Miyamoto is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Askren keeps the fight on the outside.
A nice combination there by Askren.
Miyamoto closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Askren lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Askren.
Miyamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Askren swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Miyamoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Miyamoto shoots in but Askren avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shigatsu Miyamoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Askren closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Askren working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Miyamoto is working to avoid the ground and pound but Askren connects with a decent elbow.
Askren in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Miyamoto looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Askren turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
