Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank McMally (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Sheider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank McMally!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Sheider!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheider scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sheider stuffs the takedown attempt from McMally. McMally gets slowly back to his feet.

McMally shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McMally avoids the attempt from Sheider to control.
McMally can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sheider is looking to escape.
Sheider working to try and regain half guard.

McMally looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McMally controlling his opponent.
Sheider is looking to improve his position but McMally isn't that keen on the idea.

Sheider is squirming around, avoiding McMally's attempts to control the action.
Sheider tries to hold on but McMally postures up.
Sheider might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McMally kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McMally sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
You get the feeling that Sheider really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Sheider swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Sheider is working to get back to half guard.
McMally thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sheider is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sheider is in a horrible position here. McMally smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McMally can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sheider is looking to escape.
McMally connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Sheider wants to hold on but McMally pushes him away.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McMally misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Sheider is working to get back to half guard.

A nice elbow there by McMally.
McMally can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sheider is looking to escape.
McMally is breathing heavily.
Sheider keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Sheider really wants to buck McMally off and get back to his feet.
McMally looking to finish Sheider with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sheider!
McMally lands with some strikes.
Sheider really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McMally. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McMally misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Sheider is looking to get to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McMally wants to finish this one by submission but Sheider is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McMally.
McMally throwing strikes here but Sheider is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Sheider holds on for dear life.
Sheider is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Sheider is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McMally throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Sheider because McMally loaded up on that one.
McMally wants to control the pace but Sheider is squirming around nicely.
Sheider tries to hold on but McMally pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank McMally dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McMally takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
McMally will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Frank McMally is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sheider gets a takedown into half guard.

Sheider is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McMally doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sheider.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sheider wants to get up but he can't break McMally's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McMally is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McMally looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sheider wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McMally blocks the strikes from Sheider.
McMally wants to free his trapped foot but Sheider is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McMally is thwarting Sheider's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McMally fails to land the takedown.
Sheider throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Sheider keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank McMally. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McMally misses with a takedown

so Sheider counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Sheider is fighting to break McMally's control of his arms but McMally is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Sheider is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sheider controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

McMally looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sheider trying to control the position from guard on top but McMally is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sheider is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Sheider looking to sit in guard and control but McMally gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McMally has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sheider trying to keep a closed guard but McMally is proving a slippery customer.
McMally trying to control but Sheider is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Sheider showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Sheider shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McMally's guard.
Sheider wants to control from the top but McMally keeps moving.
Sheider slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McMally has his hands on Sheider's head, controlling the position.
Sheider stands and throws McMally's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McMally can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sheider is looking to take a break and control but McMally is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McMally tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
McMally might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sheider trying to control the position but McMally is working away.

Despite being in the dominant position, Roy Sheider just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McMally gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sheider counters with a single leg into guard. McMally didn't expect that.

Sheider stands up over McMally, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Sheider is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
McMally keeping moving, preventing Sheider from controlling successfully.
Sheider pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McMally is keeping the position for now.
Sheider stops McMally from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sheider looks for a takedown but McMally sprawls well.
McMally avoids a punch combination nicely.

Sheider controls McMally momentarily but McMally frees himself.
McMally looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Sheider has his foot on McMally's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McMally works his way back into a safe position though.
McMally content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Sheider throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Roy Sheider comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sheider has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
