The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick lands for Van Barle.
Volkanovski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Volkanovski shoots for a double leg takedown but Van Barle sprawls well. He's pushed Volkanovski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Van Barle looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Van Barle was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Van Barle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Volkanovski is proving hard to escape from.
Our spies down at at Hollywood Superstar MMA Gym inform us that Volkanovski has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Volkanovski is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Van Barle rolls with it to try and escape but Volkanovski cranks on the arm and Van Barle is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Aleksandar Volkanovski decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
