Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joeri De Visscher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Spud McKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Visscher will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
De Visscher throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McKenzie's waist but McKenzie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing De Visscher off to one side.
McKenzie shoots and misses

and De Visscher counters with a nice double leg into guard.
De Visscher throwing strikes from guard but McKenzie blocks nicely.
McKenzie can't keep his opponent in guard - De Visscher advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
De Visscher wants to pass the guard but McKenzie is defending well.
McKenzie holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
McKenzie lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
De Visscher content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

De Visscher is looking for a kimura but McKenzie is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for De Visscher to get the leverage.
McKenzie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from De Visscher.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
De Visscher blocks the strikes from McKenzie.
McKenzie preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

De Visscher looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
De Visscher is trying to control the action in half guard but McKenzie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
McKenzie is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McKenzie throws a good cross that connects.

De Visscher gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
De Visscher wants to sweep but no luck.
De Visscher is breathing heavily.
McKenzie trying to control the position from guard on top but De Visscher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McKenzie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Visscher swivels though and keeps the full guard.
De Visscher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McKenzie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
De Visscher is trying to hold McKenzie in close to prevent damage but McKenzie has managed to pass into half guard.
McKenzie tries to stand but his hand is stuck under De Visscher.
McKenzie lands strikes from half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
De Visscher tries for a takedown but McKenzie circles away easily

and McKenzie counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joeri De Visscher. That's going to take a lot out of him.
De Visscher is looking to get back to full guard here but McKenzie has managed to pass to side control instead.
McKenzie has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of De Visscher's face.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
De Visscher is working to get back to half guard.

McKenzie wants to control the pace but De Visscher is squirming around nicely.

McKenzie working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. De Visscher looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by McKenzie! Submission of the night perhaps?
