Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Clappe McCheeks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Albert Einstein!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Einstein scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Einstein wants to pass the guard but McCheeks is defending well.
Einstein keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Einstein is pressing down on McCheeks's thigh, looking to free his foot. McCheeks is holding on for now.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Einstein in particular looking to stall.

McCheeks actively working from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Einstein is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCheeks is trying to control but can't.
McCheeks is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Einstein is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Einstein wants to work for an arm triangle but McCheeks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McCheeks is looking to control Einstein's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McCheeks avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
McCheeks shoots in looking for a takedown. Einstein tries to sprawl out of it but McCheeks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Einstein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Einstein tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Einstein closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McCheeks quickly recovers to half guard.
Einstein is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCheeks wants to clinch

Einstein wants to pass the guard but McCheeks is defending well.

McCheeks is not content to let Einstein control the position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Einstein connects with a nice short shot to McCheeks's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Albert Einstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McCheeks gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Einstein has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McCheeks after a bit of a struggle.
McCheeks jumps guard but Einstein stands there with McCheeks around his waist. McCheeks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McCheeks fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Einstein tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McCheeks smiles and moves away.

Einstein must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

You can see the frustration on McCheeks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Einstein cracks McCheeks with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Einstein immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! McCheeks is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Einstein!
