PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jaz Moore (ranked 24814 p4p, 4689 weight class) and Frenchie Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moore has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Jaz Moore has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jaz Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frenchie Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lewis showed some decent athleticism there.

Lewis seems to be working for a kimura but Moore defends the submission attempt.

Moore is defending against the submission attempts here by Lewis.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moore. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moore on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lewis wants to take a breather but Moore is having none of it.

Lewis gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Lewis manages to pull guard.
Lewis is trying to control the position but Moore postures up.
Lewis wants to sweep but no luck.

Moore drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moore jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Moore is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lewis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Moore gets tackled into the cage by Lewis. Lewis maintains the clinch.

Lewis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lewis is defended easily by Moore.
It looked like Moore was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Moore tries to sprawl but Lewis drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lewis moves into the clinch.
Lewis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Moore smiles and moves away.

Moore went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Lewis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lewis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moore quickly recovers to half guard.

Lewis seems to be looking for submissions.
Moore on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lewis looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Moore has his hands clasped together around Lewis's back. He's all about the action.

Lewis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moore's head.

Frenchie Lewis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moore is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lewis is adopting a defensive guard.
Moore throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lewis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Moore feints and as Lewis raises his hands in defense, Moore changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Moore is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lewis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Lewis has his foot on Moore's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moore works his way back into a safe position though.

Lewis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moore defends well.
Jaz Moore has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jaz Moore.
Well Lewis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
