Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shu Fang Tzeng (ranked 469 p4p, 1014 weight class) and Andre Mahesa (ranked 27 p4p, 57 weight class). Tzeng's entrance music is Mantra Chant. A fine choice. Mahesa has chosen You're Going Down as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shu Fang Tzeng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andre Mahesa!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tzeng clinches with his opponent.
Tzeng jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mahesa walks away with a smile on his face. Tzeng gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tzeng closes the distance and clinches.
Mahesa misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mahesa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tzeng looking to stall.
Mahesa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tzeng's efforts to push away.
Mahesa lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Mahesa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Tzeng.

Tzeng has clasped his hands together around Mahesa's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Tzeng is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mahesa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tzeng tries for a kimura but Mahesa is defending well.

Tzeng wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mahesa, who protects the arm well.
Tzeng wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mahesa keeps working.
Mahesa is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tzeng asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mahesa tries to buck Tzeng off but Tzeng is having none of it.

Tzeng is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mahesa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tzeng is looking to take a break and control but Mahesa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tzeng advances to mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tzeng has control of Mahesa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mahesa regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mahesa regains half guard.
Mahesa pushes Tzeng off looking to stand but Tzeng dives back in and keeps control.
Mahesa felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mahesa tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Tzeng manages to move to mount!
You get the feeling that Mahesa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Tzeng keeps the fight on the outside.

Mahesa has Tzeng up against the cage in a clinch.
Tzeng drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mahesa pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mahesa is looking to clinch but Tzeng is avoiding it.
Tzeng changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mahesa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tzeng paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A nice right hand lands inside from Mahesa.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mahesa tries a knee to the head but Tzeng blocks it.
The referee calls for Tzeng to work.

Tzeng shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mahesa but Mahesa pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mahesa is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We've been hearing good reports from Tzeng's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tzeng holds on and takes a little breather.
Shu Fang Tzeng overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mahesa lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Tzeng tries to score a body lock takedown but Mahesa shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Andre Mahesa seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Andre Mahesa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Tzeng stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mahesa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tzeng won't allow Mahesa to get back to his feet.

Tzeng has had enough of the clinch but Mahesa keeps him there for the moment.

Mahesa tries to close the distance and clinch but Tzeng swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tzeng dives in and grabs Mahesa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mahesa pushes down on Tzeng's head and hops out.
Mahesa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Tzeng counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mahesa is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tzeng is controlling him well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mahesa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mahesa tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

I think Mahesa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
