The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Soares checks a leg kick.
Phoenix is looking to land body kicks.
Phoenix lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Soares tries to clinch there but Phoenix circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Soares looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Phoenix throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Soares's waist but Soares gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Phoenix off to one side.
Phoenix definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Phoenix throws out a leg kick but Soares moves out of range and Phoenix only half commits.
Soares slips a jab and a cross from Phoenix.
Soares wants to counter with a clinch but Phoenix pushes him away.
