PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mate Orsic (ranked 2591 p4p, 983 weight class) and Sebastion Lynar (ranked 310 p4p, 129 weight class). Orsic comes to the ring accompanied by KRS One - Rappaz R. N. Dainja. Mate Orsic has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastion Lynar!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynar keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lynar doesn't manage to clinch there - Orsic circles away.
Orsic tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lynar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Orsic somewhat.
Lynar loads up on a big right hand but Orsic slips the punch.
Mate Orsic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Orsic misses the jab.
Orsic works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Lynar throws out a powerful jab.
Orsic leaves Lynar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lynar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Orsic wants to improve his position but instead Lynar has moved into half guard.

Lynar takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Sebastion Lynar dominated that round.
That's time! Orsic's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Orsic does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Lynar steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Orsic.
Lynar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Orsic stuffs the takedown attempt from Lynar. Lynar gets slowly back to his feet.

and Orsic counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lynar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

As Orsic backs off Lynar throws a huge counter combo but Orsic manages to avoid it all.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Orsic is pressing down on Lynar's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lynar is holding on for now.
Lynar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lynar.
Orsic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Orsic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Lynar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Orsic has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Lynar doesn't defend quickly enough and Orsic has managed to lock this one up! Can Lynar escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Orsic on a fantastic submission victory.
