PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Galileo Galilei (ranked 4834 p4p, 4173 weight class) and Matt Wills (ranked 172 p4p, 151 weight class). Wills has chosen I don't fault the police by Corporate Avenger as his entrance music. The key to victory for Galileo Galilei has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wills throws a lazy uppercut
and Galilei counters with a nice body shot.
A swing and a miss from Galilei.
Wills shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Galilei but Galilei pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Galilei is looking for a counter combo.
The fighters circling - Galilei throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Wills misses with an uppercut
and Galilei cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Matt Wills has been cut.
Wills throws a jab but it's blocked by Galilei.
Galilei has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Monkey Magic in the buildup to the fight.
A slow jab from Wills misses its intended target.
Galilei misses with a hook. Wills ducked under it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Galilei leaves Wills with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wills misses with a left hand
and Galilei connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Galilei is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Wills slips a jab and a cross from Galilei.

Galilei just misses with a punch to the body.
Wills throws a hook but Galilei avoids it easily.
Wills shoots in for a double leg but Galilei sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Galileo Galilei is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Galilei misses with a wild combination.
Matt Wills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Galilei misses with a hook.
Wills is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Galilei keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Galilei is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Galilei misses with a looping right.
Galilei is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Galilei missing with a left hand there. Wills was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Wills slips a straight right by Galilei.
Galilei catches Wills with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Wills doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Galilei counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That has opened up Matt Wills's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Galilei defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wills.
Nice straight punches there by Galilei. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Galilei.

Galilei getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Wills throws the left hand but Galilei avoids the punch easily.
Wills fails with the takedown
and Galilei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The cut above Matt Wills's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Galilei lands a jab to the nose.

Wills shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Galilei manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Galilei will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wills looks winded!
Galilei looking to control but Wills passes into half guard.
Galilei has a hand on Wills's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Wills takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Wills wants to finish this one by submission but Galilei is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wills.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wills looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Galilei knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wills on the ground.

Galilei blocking the ground and pound.
Wills has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wills lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wills scoring with strikes but Galilei is staying in there.
Galilei on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Galilei tries to get out of the position.

Wills looking to isolate an arm here. Galilei doesn't see it coming and as Wills extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Wills!
