Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Curtis Rome (ranked 3012 p4p, 3844 weight class) and Dmitri Kersikov (ranked 354 p4p, 436 weight class). Kersikov has chosen Builder - Her Voice (Headhunterz Remix) as his entrance music. Curtis Rome has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Rome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dmitri Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kersikov looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Dmitri Kersikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kersikov throws a hook to the side of Rome's head but Rome sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A little feinted left hand from Rome on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Rome checks a low kick from Kersikov.
A big right from Kersikov misses.
Kersikov misses with a jab to the body
and Rome counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kersikov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Kersikov tries to land a leg kick but Rome saw it coming and moves away.

so Rome counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kersikov seems keen to control Rome's posture.
Kersikov is looking to stand back up but Rome counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kersikov.
Kersikov is staying active underneath Rome, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rome seems to be looking for submissions.
Kersikov has his hands clasped together around Rome's back. He's all about the action.
We've been hearing that Rome has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rome is pressing down on Kersikov's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kersikov is holding on for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kersikov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rome fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kersikov sprawls well initially but Rome persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kersikov has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rome is on him like a limpet, forcing Kersikov back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kersikov tries to throw a body punch but Rome avoids it by throwing Kersikov back against the cage.
Kersikov tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Rome shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kersikov sprawls well. Kersikov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rome gets slowly back to his feet.
Kersikov throws out a counter right but Rome avoids it with no problem.
Rome dives in and grabs Kersikov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kersikov pushes down on Rome's head and hops out.
Rome will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As Rome backs off Kersikov throws a huge counter combo but Rome manages to avoid it all.
Kersikov throws a low kick, looking for Rome's leg but Rome calmly moves out of range.
Rome swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kersikov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rome has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kersikov throws a leg kick but Rome moved away.

Rome throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kersikov tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rome is in Kersikov's guard.
Rome stands and throws Kersikov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Kersikov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rome manages to avoid it.
