PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mel Anglestad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angelo Cannavaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cannavaro has chosen Meshuggah - Bleed as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mel Anglestad!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Angelo Cannavaro!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anglestad uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cannavaro.
A combination from Cannavaro does no damage.
Cannavaro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anglestad paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Anglestad gets a clinch.
Cannavaro wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Cannavaro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Anglestad is nestled in close to Cannavaro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Cannavaro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cannavaro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anglestad is working away from the top position though.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Anglestad connects with a nice short shot to Cannavaro's temple.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cannavaro is trying to maintain the position but Anglestad is very close to passing his half guard.

Anglestad seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cannavaro for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Anglestad is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Angelo Cannavaro's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Angelo Cannavaro's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mel Anglestad!
