Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott Rupp!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rupp throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rupp tries to bum rush Maia with a series of wild strikes but Maia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rupp misses with a two punch combination.
Maia appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Rupp misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A combination from Rupp does no damage.
Rupp throws a combination that misses

and Maia counters with a shoot takedown. Rupp fights it but they end up in guard.
Rupp keeping full guard, as Maia tries to pass.
Rupp wants to sweep here but Maia controlling him for the moment.
Maia's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Maia trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rupp wants to sweep here but Maia controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rupp is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rupp is on top in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rupp passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Maia definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Maia struggling a bit here.
Maia regains half guard.
Rupp prevents Maia from improving his position.

Maia is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rupp pulls his head out easily.
Maia tries to get to full guard but Rupp has control of the leg.
Maia is working hard here to advance position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maia manages to get to full guard.
Rupp passes into half guard.
Rupp is keen to just control but Maia is a slippery customer.
Maia is looking to control Rupp's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Maia avoid being mounted?

Maia tries to roll over but Rupp keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Maia is looking to control Rupp's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Maia avoid being mounted?
Rupp seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maia does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rupp wants to work for an arm triangle but Maia is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Maia wants to get back to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Rupp dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Rupp looks to land a combination but Maia avoids it well.
Rupp's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rupp's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Maia changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rupp looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rupp wants to control but Maia postures up.

Maia working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Maia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rupp on the ground.
Rupp sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Maia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rupp doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maia.

Maia is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rupp defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maia wants to control but Rupp is keeping him busy.
Lucas Maia overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are battling for position here. Rupp manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Maia wants to pass the guard but Rupp is keeping the position.
Rupp looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maia is one step ahead there.
Maia stands and throws Rupp's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Maia tries for a kimura but Rupp is defending well.
Maia controlling from side mount.
Rupp is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Maia off and has taken his back!
Maia tries to escape the position.

Rupp has his arm under Maia's chin here. Game over son! Rupp squeezes tightly and Maia is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Scott Rupp!
