Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mason Island (ranked 6744 p4p, 5777 weight class) and Yovko Yovkov (ranked 705 p4p, 640 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Island rushes Yovkov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Yovkov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Island works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Yovkov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Island is one step ahead there.
Yovkov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Island decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Island will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yovkov moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

It looks like Mason Island has been cut.
Yovkov looks for a takedown but Island sprawls well.
Yovkov pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Island back to the cage. Yovkov follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Island shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yovkov but Yovkov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Yovkov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Island ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Island no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Yovkov is looking to pass into half guard but Island pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Island is in guard.

Yovkov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Island is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Yovkov.

Island has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mason Island has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yovko Yovkov.

Island clinches up with Yovkov and pushes him back against the cage.

The fight stays on the outside here - Yovkov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Yovkov shoots in and drives through. Island sprawls well.
Yovkov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Island but Island pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Island manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Island pulls Yovkov in to control the position.
Yovkov pushes down on Island's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Island is staying active underneath Yovkov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Island has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Yovkov. Oh but Island has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Yovkov goes limp - he's gone! Island jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
