PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kermit Archer (ranked 403 p4p, 1574 weight class) and Armand Christophe (ranked 63 p4p, 209 weight class). Christophe has chosen Shadows as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kermit Archer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Armand Christophe!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Christophe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Archer to the ground. Christophe is now in Archer's guard.
Christophe trying to control the position from guard on top but Archer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Archer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Christophe controls the pace.
Archer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Archer is adopting a defensive guard.
Christophe wants to pass the guard but Archer is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Archer being controlled here, momentarily.

Christophe trying to control but Archer is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Christophe misses with a body kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Archer.
Christophe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Archer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Archer thuds his shin into the meat of Christophe's side.
Archer swings away with a body shot that misses
and Christophe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Archer throws a jab when Christophe was well out of range.

Archer drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Archer is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Archer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Christophe is keeping the position for now.
Archer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Archer content to stall in guard here.

Archer is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Christophe controls Archer momentarily but Archer frees himself.
Christophe working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Archer.
Christophe keeping full guard, as Archer tries to pass.
Archer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Christophe trying to keep a closed guard but Archer is proving a slippery customer.
Christophe looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Archer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Christophe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Christophe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Archer landing some decent shots from guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Christophe holds on and takes a little breather.
Christophe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Archer's guard.

Archer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Archer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Archer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Christophe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Archer won't allow Christophe to sweep him here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Archer's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Archer stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Christophe has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Archer manages to get his head free but now Christophe has transitioned to an armbar! Archer grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Christophe! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Armand Christophe!
During a confident post fight interview, Armand Christophe thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Kermit Archer was interviewed post fight and said 'The election is rigged.'.
