PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bingo Banjo (ranked 4949 p4p, 2984 weight class) and Ozren Moreno (ranked 564 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bingo Banjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ozren Moreno!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banjo stuffs the takedown attempt from Moreno. Moreno gets slowly back to his feet.

Moreno moves into range and clinches up with Banjo.

Banjo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Banjo stuffs the takedown.

Banjo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Moreno manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Moreno uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Banjo drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moreno wants to stand and escape but Banjo is having none of it.
Banjo wants to control from the top but Moreno keeps moving.
Banjo trying to stand up but can't free himself from Moreno's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Moreno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Banjo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Banjo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Banjo is looking to stand up but Moreno won't let him.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Banjo tries to close the distance and clinch but Moreno swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Moreno feints the counter takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Banjo.
Moreno is trying to improve his position.

Banjo tries to advance to mount but Moreno denies him.
Moreno tries to buck Banjo off but Banjo is having none of it.

Banjo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Moreno has escaped the position, nice work there.
Moreno tries to bench press Banjo off him but Banjo keeps the position.
Moreno looks winded!

Banjo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Moreno has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Banjo but great work by Moreno.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banjo is pushing Moreno's head away, looking to escape. Moreno manages to hold on to the position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Banjo manages to get back to half guard.
Banjo is looking to control Moreno's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Banjo avoid being mounted?
Banjo is controlling Moreno's trapped leg to prevent Moreno from advancing to side control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Banjo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Banjo has Moreno pulled in close to control his posture.

Moreno got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banjo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moreno has managed to get both his arms back between Banjo's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moreno looking to sit in guard and control but Banjo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Banjo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Moreno misses with a strike from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bingo Banjo dominated that round.
That's time! Banjo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Moreno looks for the body kick but Banjo saw that one coming.

Banjo gets caught napping as Moreno dives in and scores a takedown. Banjo manages to retain guard.
Moreno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Moreno loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Banjo has his foot on Moreno's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moreno works his way back into a safe position though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Banjo is positioning himself well to prevent Moreno advancing to mount.
Banjo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moreno's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moreno's back!

Banjo is persistently looking for the submission but Moreno is defending it well.

Banjo has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Moreno is in real trouble here. Banjo gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Moreno is tapping out! Banjo wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bingo Banjo!
