Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jordi Barret (ranked 4903 p4p, 2921 weight class) and Jackson Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jackson Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barret throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice jab there from Barret.
Alvarez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Barret misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alvarez dives in and scores a takedown into Barret's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Barret ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Alvarez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alvarez lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alvarez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Barret on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barret tries to get out of the position.
Barret is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alvarez forces his way into half guard.

Alvarez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barret with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alvarez slips a nice elbow through Barret's hands, connecting with Barret's forehead.
Barret tries to get to full guard but Alvarez has control of the leg.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alvarez connects with a nice short shot to Barret's temple.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Alvarez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Barret has hold of Alvarez's hands but Alvarez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Barret knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground.

Let's hope that Alvarez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
