PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jussi Seppa (ranked 4574 p4p, 5887 weight class) and Darius Thibodeaux (ranked 542 p4p, 616 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jussi Seppa !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Thibodeaux!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seppa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thibodeaux was covering up waiting for the punch and Seppa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Seppa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Seppa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thibodeaux dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Seppa seems keen to control Thibodeaux's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thibodeaux got a little sloppy there for a moment and Seppa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thibodeaux has managed to get both his arms back between Seppa 's legs - danger averted.

Seppa has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Seppa slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Seppa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thibodeaux for as long as he can get away with.
Seppa 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Seppa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Seppa is working for a kimura but Thibodeaux is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Thibodeaux cracks Seppa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Seppa fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Thibodeaux to the ground. Seppa is now in Thibodeaux's guard.

Seppa looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Seppa is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jussi Seppa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Seppa , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
